Tulla Courthouse is proud to annouce our first 'Week Of Welcomes'. This is now planned for Heritage Week 2013 - the 17th to 25th of August. It will build upon the very successful Arts Trail during Heritage Week 2012. We plan a host of events exploring our local Heritage and Arts. We are especially reaching out to the Tulla Diaspora to visit us during this special year of 'The Gathering'. Please check back as we will update more details as they become available.
We would also ask anyone that has families and friends abroad that would be
interested in visiting Tulla in 2013 to please foward us contact details via email or our contacts page so that we can formally invite them and keep them up to date with all activities in the Courthouse, including the 'Week of Welcomes 2013'
24th of November training took place at the graveyard on how to map, photograph and transcribe a graveyard. It was cold and blusterly but great work was done and photos from both graveyards in Tulla are now available on the historic graveyards website. John Tierney of the Historic Graves project was a fantastic trainer and we were also extremely fortunate to have Franc Myles along to give us his expertise and kniowledge. On Friday we were joined by students from both 1st year and transition year from St Joesphs. We hope they enjoyed the experience. There still is much work to be done to transcribe the graves and also in the future to photograph the newer sections. So if you would like to get involved in this project please contact us via the Courthouse Office or from the contacts page of this website. To see the progress to date please check out

"Aughty” is a feature length experimental documentary by visual artists and filmmakers Tom Flanagan and Megs Morley. Over a period of 18 months, the artists have explored the Aughty mountain region, its hinterlands and people, a vast and unique geographical area that spans East Galway and East Clare. The film is constructed as an “arrangement of incidents” alluding to a more fragmented narrative experience whereby meaning is constructed through the observation and interpretation of the encounter of place and journey, recording the incidental moments, actions and gestures encountered.
Through observation and engagement with this unique rural region, the film captures the complex relationship between the place, the landscape and the people at a time where the degeneration and regeneration of traditional rural communities and the impact of modernization on rural society is reaching a pinnacle moment.
The film also features original music from Galway band Phantom Dog beneath the Moon and Caoimhe Morley, alongside traditional music scores by local musicia
